Why the Thar Roxx cluster needs protecting

The Roxx is the first Thar to ship with a proper digital instrument cluster, and Mahindra mounted it in a deep binnacle with a gloss finish. That gloss is what makes the graphics pop — and it is also what makes every fingerprint and dust streak visible the moment sun hits the windscreen.

There is a specific hazard on this car that sedan owners do not have. The Roxx is bought to be driven on trails, through dust, with the roof panels off. • Park in shade, ignition off, cluster darkA switched-off display shows dust and lint far better than a lit one. Shade also keeps the adhesive from grabbing too fast.
• Drop the steering wheel to its lowest settingThe Roxx binnacle is deep and the wheel rim gets in the way. Lowering and extending the column gives you a clean line of sight and both hands free.
• Wet wipe, then dry clothBoth are in the box. Wet lifts oils and grit, dry removes streaks. Never dry-wipe a dusty cluster — that is how the fine scratches happen in the first place.
• Lift residual dust with the sticker tabDab, do not rub. One trapped particle becomes a permanent bubble you cannot squeegee out.
• Peel halfway, align to the top bezel edgeAlign against the top edge of the cluster surround first, then let the film fall downward onto the glass.
